Aubrey Danielle (warning: loooong!)

Well, since my princesses are still sleeping, I'll take this time to write out Aubrey's birth story. So I had been on bed rest for over 7 weeks when Aubrey was born. About 2 weeks prior to her birth I caught a nasty cold. I honestly don't think I've ever had a cold that bad before. I lost my voice, was coughing like crazy, had a pounding head ache, and my throat was so sore I couldn't eat, and it even hurt to swallow water.
Finally on May 1st (a Sunday) I couldn't take it anymore. Bailey and Reagan were also sick now, so my Mom decided to take all three of us to the urgent care. We thought we would be done in time to go to church at 11. We pulled up at the urgent care only to find out that they weren't open for another hour. While sitting there, I noticed that my contractions were starting to become painful. Not horrible, but they hurt. Keep in mind I had been contracting regularly for WEEKS now, but was still only dilated to a 1. My previous contractions though regular (every 5 minutes) had not been painful until now. So my Mom made the decision to take me down to the hospital just in case. At this point, Michael (who was still in Maryland) started texting me to see how my day was. I let him know that I was on my way to the hospital and would keep him updated.
When we got there I went to the ER first and told them that I was really sick, but was also contracting. They told me to go up to Labor and Delivery first to get checked out, and then they would see me down in the ER for the cold. Haha, I never made it back down to the ER. I was quickly shown to a room in L and D and hooked up to the contraction monitors and checked to see how dilated I was, but they didn't say anything. My contractions were now 2 minutes apart and very painful. Shortly after that, a nurse walks into my room and plops down a bunch of supplies and starts prepping me for a catheter.  I asked her if I was staying until my delivery and she said "oh honey, didn't anyone tell you? We're delivering right now!" She told me that I was dilated to a 5, almost a 6 and 100% effaced. I started to cry. I shouldn't have been scared, but I was, and I wanted my husband! My Mom texted him to let him know that baby was on her way, and he replied with "Holy poop!" :)
I thought through my whole pregnancy that I would be okay with Michael gone. I told myself that it was fine, I knew what to expect, and it was no big deal. That was a lie. It was a big deal and I missed him more than ever right then. So the nurse walked me down to the OR, while my Mom changed into her OR approved "space suit." On a funny note, she had flip flops on, because when we left the house, we did not think that the baby would be coming!
The anesthesiologist had a hard time getting my spinal just right and had to redo it several times. Then they laid me down on the table and we waited. I felt sick and told them I thought I was going to throw up, but luckily I hadn't had anything, just tiny sips of water, in over 24 hours so there was nothing to throw up. The doctor came in to check me, and when I told him I could still feel pain when he pinched me, he said I was numb enough, and they started the c-section. Well, numb enough hurts really freaking bad! I thought I was going to be sick all over again! Then, because my babies love to sit so low in my pelvis, both doctors had to push and shove on my stomach because she was stuck down there. That brought on a new wave of pain and nausea. The next thing I knew, the doctor said "wow that's a lot of hair," and I heard my sweet little baby cry. Of course, I started crying because that didn't happen with the twins. I kept asking, "is she okay?" and my Mom and the nurses kept reassuring me that she was and that she was perfect. I was terrified though that something was wrong and that they weren't telling me because that's what happened when I had Bailey and Reagan.
They were right though, she was perfect. She arrived at 11:42 am weighing 6lbs. 6 oz. and was 20 inches long. She had a full head of thick, silvery blonde hair, just like her Daddy did when he was born. I got to kiss her before they took her to the nursery to be checked out, which was another first. I didn't see the twins for almost 8 hours because they were immediately whisked off to the NICU. The first time I saw them they were covered with tubes, and all I was allowed to to was touch their back in their incubators.
I was taken off to recovery after painfully enduring 16 staples being placed across my incision. I waited there for an hour and when I got to my room, they brought Aubrey straight to me. Apart from a few hours spent in the nursery the next night so I could get some sleep, she never left my side. It was an amazing experience to actually get to leave the hospital with my baby. We all adore her and she is the perfect addition to our family. In the 3 months that she has been here, she has brought so much joy and love into our lives and we have realized that we were not a complete family before she was here.
